Open Meetings

Open meetings are the “supreme governing body of TCSU”, and the formal connection between the executive committee and the members of the TCSU. The committee members are required to summarise their recent activities and answer questions asked by other members. The most important part of the open meeting is voting on motions submitted. The committee will hope that members approve their motions. In this way all significant policies are subject to rigorous scrutiny. Other members may also submit motions, which can be anything from requesting the installation of toasters, to a vote of no confidence in the Computing Officer.

  • Motions can be submitted to the Secretary up to 72 hours in advance of the meeting. The motion must be signed by both a proposer and a seconder, and thus should be delivered by hand rather than by email.
  • The quorum for an Open Meeting is 20 TCSU members, so please do come along to make sure that your views are heard and TCSU policy can be made!
