Domestic

Hello all,

My role as domestic and environmental officer is to basically sort out any problems you feel you might have on the domestic front from the mundane to the trivial hence I will often refer you to the Works Department (on account of not personally being able to fix radiators), and to liaise with students and college departments about how to make Trinity more environmentally and ethically friendly - this includes college food (though Ben is also involved with this), recycling, energy consumption etc. Any ideas are more than welcome on any of these points!

I hope this year we can continue to pave the way for environmental affairs within college and disprove the reputation that size equates to poor environmental policy, as is often the University wide consensus concerning environmental matters at Trinity.

So please don't hesitate to get in touch if you have any issues concerning your room or the college environment including the gym, buttery, servery, post room etc and I'll keep you posted as and when things happen!

Cheers, Nick

There is a very good page on the Trinity website about the gym. Read it here

There are also futher details on the Core Cambridge website here

Just a few things to clear up:

Where is the Gym?

Hover over the pushpins on this map to find the gym and the Burrell's Field Porter's Lodge:

Gym Access Last year's system currently operates; if you have been inducted go to Burrell's Field Porter's Lodge and ask for the gym door card. The porters will check your name against the list of inducted members. Sometime this term (even college doesn't know) a SALTO lock will be fitted to the door of the gym, to be opened with your uni card.

Cost: Once you have attended an induction, you will be charged £21 per year. Please be aware that there is no further opt in, even if you never go to the gym you will be charged. If you no longer wish to use the gym and object to being charged for it, you will need to visit Member's Accounts in the College Office.

Inductions: Inductions are taking place all year round. You will always be able to get an induction. If you check the Burrell's Field Porter's Lodge noticeboard at any time you should find a sign up sheet.

Inductions are currently,

  • Tuesday 9:00 - 10:00am
  • Thursday 3:30 - 4:30pm

During the first few weeks of term many additional inductions will be run. Visit the Burrell's plodge to see what times are available.

In the gym, you will meet our expert trainer, Hayley Ginn from Core Cambridge.

She is present 10 hours a week in vacation time and a huge 16 hours a week in term time.

All year round:

  • Monday 5:30pm - 7:30pm
  • Tuesday 9:00am - 1:00pm
  • Thurday 1:00pm - 5:00pm

Additionally in term time:

  • Monday 11:30am - 2:30pm
  • Friday 1:00pm - 4:00pm

There are also addition courses available free to Trinity members

Noise Survey

This is a rough survey of noise in college rooms put together by my predecessor's predecessor, Jon Thompson. Its a good introduction to noise in different areas in college, if that's what you're after.
