About this site
This site was created in the Easter vacation 2007 by Sam Kemp, TCSU Publicity and Computing Officer. Regrettably, the Regulations for Part II of the English Tripos do not permit its submission as an Original Composition. It is written in pious (and tedious) compliance with the W3C standards for XHTML (1.0 Strict) and CSS2; therefore if it doesn’t work it’s your browser’s fault, not mine..!
Seriously though, the site has been tested and found to be functional (not to mention aesthetic) in Internet Explorer 6.0 and above, Firefox 1.5 and above for Windows and for Linux, Safari 2.0, Opera 9.2, Konqueror 3.4 and, for the truly hardcore, Lynx.
The following issues are known:
- Pop-up menus do not function in Internet Explorer prior to version 7.0. This is due to inadequate (or rather non-existent) CSS2 support in the browser, an issue which Microsoft have remedied in version 7.0. All pages are, however, accessible without use of the pop-up menus, so an upgrade is not necessary — having said that, it will most likely improve your browsing experience on this and on other sites.
Please contact the webmaster if you find any further problems in these or any other browsers.
I would also be very interested to hear of any extra features, information, links or functionality which would be appreciated on the site. Again, please send me an email with your suggestions.
